Summer holidays – your packing guide

Summer holidays – your packing guide

Warm weather, daylight savings, mangos, ice-blocks, reading books, an afternoon snooze, swimming, playing in the park, rumbling with your pets, enjoying the sunshine ... It’s not hard to come up with a billion reasons why summer holidays are looked forward to by everyone!

  • The only downside to the great summer getaway is that getting you and the family into the car or onto the plane can be a bit of a mission impossible.
  • To make things a little less stressful for the chief packer (usually Mum, it seems!), here is our list of the must-haves for your summer hol. Anything else you can either do without or buy when you get there!
  • Beach stuff:

Sunshade or large umbrella, beach chairs, towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, rash suits or tops, swimmers, sandals/thongs, swimming nappies for little ones.
  • Toys and games stuff:

For kids – boogie boards, kite, beach ball, inflatable water toys, bikes, buckets and spades, goggles, mask, snorkel and flippers, books, DVDs or game consoles for evenings or rainy days.
  • For adults – camera, books, board games, deck of cards, tennis racquets, golf clubs, fishing gear, iPod and speakers, plus any electronic items like your laptop (if you simply can’t live without them!).
  • Personal stuff:

First-aid kit, clothes, shoes, underwear, nappies, sleepwear, toiletries.
  • Entertaining stuff:

Folding outdoor chairs and table, Esky, picnic set and rug, outdoor lanterns (battery-powered is best during bushfire season), food covers to keep bugs off the food, insect repellant, mosquito coils, market umbrella, KLEENEX® Brand Natural Antibacterial Hand Sanitiser pump pack (the natural, convenient, water-free way to get rid of nasty germs before you eat).
  • Now, chief organiser, print off our list and tick it off item by item!
