Have you ever wondered about a perfect party theme for the child who can't stay still? A sports theme is just what you're looking for!
A sports theme party is an action-packed day filled with all sorts of games, races and challenges. The good thing about hosting a sports party is that it can take place in a number of venues including a backyard, local park, sports ground or recreation facility. The only requirement is a large enough area for your guests to run around.
Clever Costuming
Invite your guests to wear clothes and shoes that allow them to move around and be comfortable in. Guests could also wear their favourite football jersey, their sports team outfits or they could dress as their favourite sports star. You could also base your theme on a particular sport and invite guests to dress for that theme.
Menu Munchies
When hosting a sports party ensure you have suitable refreshments for your guests. That includes plenty of water and fruit to keep them hydrated. The best sorts of party food are those that can be eaten on the run, such as sausage rolls, pinwheel sandwiches and wraps. For the cake, you can maintain the theme by baking a cake in the shape of a sports field or sports equipment such as a bat or racket.
Gratifying Games
There are many games that can be played at a sports party. These include modified traditional sports, such as cricket, soccer, football or softball. Why not set up a playstation or Wii for some virtual sport games in case of bad weather or just for a change of pace? A sports trivia quiz could be played towards the end of the party to help your guests wind down.
Fancy a Favour?
Fill bags with energy bars, bouncy balls and foam footballs. Sports socks, drink bottles, a sports cap and some zinc can also be included for those hot days.
Party Pointers
Remember a sports party can be themed around any sport. Your child might be into bikes, so ask your guests to bring along their bike and helmet and set up a little road track for them to play on. You could also have a more modern sports party at an ice-skating rink, bowling alley or laser skirmish complex. The good thing about these parties is that they will often do most of the organising, so all you will have to do is turn up.
