This week’s etiquette question: Sleepover

This week’s etiquette question: Sleepover

Q. My daughter is turning 10 and having a sleepover party. She wants to write the invitation in a ‘cool’ kind of way – any suggestions for how we can word it?

  • A. You’ve got two audiences here – the children who are being invited to the party, and the parents who will RSVP on their behalf. So while the language can be tapered towards the 10-year-old crowd, you’ll need to ensure it’s suitable for the parents too. Tween girls love everything cute, so maybe write a fun little rhyme with your daughter which you can include before you list the party details. How about something like:
  • My 10th birthday is almost here,
  • So pack your PJs and all your fave gear,
  • We’ll dance, eat pizza and watch DVDs,
  • I hope you can come, pretty please!
