Kids’ party menu

Gatherings of kids are heaps of fun, whether it’s for a birthday or another occasion such as Easter, Christmas or an end-of-school-term celebration. One big part of a party is being allowed to have treat foods, which of course need to be limited to special occasions.

  • Here are some quick ideas for feeding the mob – healthier options are best, so we’ve provided some of these, as well as some old-fashioned favourites of the very sugary variety! You decide how little or many of these treat foods you wish to provide, along with the healthier foods.
  • These DIY recipes are easy and simple, so the kids can help out too where appropriate. And by making the food from scratch, you avoid the hidden nasties that some pre-packaged and pre-prepared foods contain.
  • Healthier options:

Summer fruit kebabs – these have the addition of honey and hundreds and thousands, making them fun to eat.
  • Mini sausage rolls – home-made is so much better for them.
  • Hummus or guacamole  – serve with vegetable sticks such as carrot and celery, or pita chips
  • Chunks of frozen fruit – berries, grapes, watermelon and more.
  • Treat options:

Honey joys – an all-time classic you can make in minutes.
  • Rice bubble treats – just like store-bought rice bubble bars!
  • Yum yum balls – made with Weet-bix and condensed milk.
  • The cake:

Mini cupcakes – if you’re celebrating your child’s b’day, arrange them on a tray in the shape of the age they are turning.
  • Marble cake – a sure-fire winner with the kids with all the pretty swirled colours.
  • Eggless chocolate cake – in case you have guests with allergies.
  • Drinks:

Frozen fruit and yoghurt blocks – or just squeeze juice from fresh fruit and freeze in moulds.
  • Water with small chunks of frozen fruit floating in it.
  • Home made lemonade – refreshing and delicious.
  • Now invite everyone with one of our kids’ designs!
