Keeping Them Entertained!

Keeping Them Entertained!

It's important to provide some form of entertainment at any children's party, to ensure the event has structure and momentum. Fortunately, there are many entertainment options to suit every budget, child and age group, so here are a few points of inspiration to help you get it right when hosting your next party.

Get Help From Peers
The cheapest option is to host your child's party at home, and manage the entertainment and games yourself. To reduce stress levels, enlist the help of another parent or friend. The alternative is to bring in a local teenager, babysitter, or daycare worker. Ask them to come armed with fresh ideas, and plenty of energy to help run activities on the day. For a few extra dollars, their enthusiasm and experience will be sure to bring extra excitement to the event.

Hire A Pro
If you'd rather source a pro, there are some very good sports or games co-ordinators available to come and do the job for you. They will provide all equipment, and take over on the day - allowing you to relax and enjoy the company.

Another option is to hire performers who can come to your home (or local park) for a period of time, which can be scheduled around meal times etc. Hiring a clown or magician for an hour or two will add a novel touch to your party, as kids take in the wonders of magic tricks, fancy balloons and face painting.

Rent A Backdrop
There are many fabulous things for hire which can serve as exciting backdrops to a birthday. A jumping castle or petting zoo can be delivered to, and installed at your home, or a venue of your choosing (with approval), providing hours of fun for all concerned.

Try An Offsite Venue
If you'd rather take the party off-site, there are plenty of venues where a party can be hosted. Tenpin bowling alleys, skating rinks, bumper car arenas or paint ball circuits will often provide party packages which remove most of the hassle for you. It would be wise to check in advance that the food is adequate and plentiful - and smaller party groups are recommended, to ensure things stay safe and in control.

Finally, there has been a recent emergence of indoor playgrounds/restaurants, whose primary purpose is to host children's parties - providing everything from the latest colourful play equipment to tasty age-appropriate party morsels. If this sounds more appealing than hosting at home, check out the internet and local directories for kids' entertainment spots near you.

A fun-filled day doesn't have to be expensive, and it may become a trade-off between guest numbers and venue. Regardless, do your homework, plan games or book entertainment in advance, be clear on your requirements with any service provider enlisted, and you'll be guaranteed a fun-filled day for all concerned.
