Surviving the party season

Surviving the party season

We all await the end of the year – it’s often a chance to let our hair down and enjoy a few more long lunches than usual. If your social calendar is overflowing and you’re wondering how on earth you’ll arrive at Christmas in one piece, here are some handy hints for surviving the party season.

  • You don’t have to attend everything you’re invited to. Decide what’s important, and gracefully decline the rest. And don’t ever try to attend two parties in one night – it’s too much racing around. You won’t be able to relax and enjoy yourself if you’re worried about getting to the next event before it wraps up.

  • Don’t drink on an empty stomach. You’ll only regret it later (and don’t want to make a fool of yourself, or endanger your health). Have fun, but know your limits.
  • Boost your vitamins to supplement your Christmas party diet (vitamin C is great for the immune system and hangovers, and vitamin B is good for energy levels).
  • Gentle exercise works wonders for busy bodies. Go for a surf, a bike ride or power walk outside – summer is a great time to exercise in the great outdoors.
  • Schedule some down time at home in-between your festive engagements –reading, catching up on sleep or watching your favourite DVDs. It’ll help recharge you for the next party (or to host your own shindig)!
