5 tips for the perfect Christmas season

How do you remember you childhood Christmases?

  • Were they picture perfect, wrapped up in wonder and magic and filled with stirring carols, jolly Christmas songs, yummy food and tantalising gifts?
  • Whether your answer is yes or no, the chances are you want the Christmas experience of your kids to be like that.
  • There are so many ways to fill up the days leading to the big event to ensure a time of excitement and awe, and the good news is, not all of them break the bank!
  • Our top five tips will ensure that from the moment the first door on the Advent calendar is opened, right through to when the tree is taken down, your children will be full of Christmas joy.
  • 1. Christmas lights tours of the neighbourhood – People really go all out when it comes to decking out their homes – even if you aren’t one of them, set aside a night, bundle the kids in the car and drive around our suburb, stoping to check out the most well-lit, fantastically-decorated homes. Often you will be welcome to have a look around, too.
  • 2. Carol singing – Whether it is a community Carols by Candlelight service or three, shopping centre buskers, or the kids themselves going door to door, nothing can compare to carols when it comes to getting the sentimental Christmas juices flowing.
  • 3. Letters to Santa – you’ve visited him at the shopping centre – maybe more than once. Maybe you have even received a letter from the big man himself, via LoveFromSanta. Now it’s time to get the children to put their thoughts on paper, remembering to thank Santa for his hard work, and promising a carrot for Rudolph and a whiskey for him on Christmas Eve.
  • 4. Christmas baking for a good cause – get the kids to bake mince pies, white Christmas, apricot and rum balls, and take the goodies to a nursing home, or donate them to a charity shop. Alternatively, ask them to choose a toy when shopping that they would like to donate to a charity. Some GORGEOUS baking cups are available in our party store.
  • 5. Movie marathons – There’s a summer storm outside and rain is pelting down – or it is simply just too humid to consider stepping. Why not set up a movie marathon – mix the newest hits with some more traditional Christmas tales. Christmas movies are magical in their ability to spellbind young and old throughout the years and will really get everyone in the festive frame of mind. Have some apricot balls and mince pies, and Christmas is really in the air..
