Finals Fever
The BBQ is blazing, the beer is chilling and the cheering has begun! Yes it’s that time of the year again… Footy Finals Fever is in the air. How have you planned to spend your Sunday afternoon? Whether you’re a Melbourne Storm fan or love to hate the Manly Sea Eagles, it’s a perfect opportunity to invite your friends and family over and celebrate an Australian icon…..The Rugby League Football Grand Final.

I remember vividly the feeling of anticipation as a kid. Dressed in my team’s colours black and orange, with my hand made poster waiting for our guests to arrive, we sat before our 20cm colour TV…no remote control in those days, watched numerous beer ads, the pre-match games and listened eagerly to the knowledgeable words of the commentators. With bowls of chips, crackers, and French onion dip in hand we cheered every tackle, held our breath with every kick and cried tears of joy when the final whistle blew. Such a precious childhood memory.

This year I have my own little family and although she will be only 6 months on grand final day, I think, what could be a better way to celebrate half a year of life than to watch your first football grand final with family and friends. The colours may be wrong but the jersey will fit perfectly. How will you be celebrating grand final day? Click here to invite your family and friends over for a Grandfinal BBQ this long weekend.

Plan a Girls’ Night In & Help Defeat Women’s Cancer Monday, 15 September 2008
October is a great opportunity to organise a fun get-together with your girlfriends – all for a good cause. By hosting a Girls’ Night In, not only will you will get to enjoy the company of your favourite females, but you will collectively be raising funds to help fight cancer.

The concept is simple: Have a great night in, and donate the money you would have spent on a night out to the Cancer Council.

The timing can be flexible – just secure a weekend in October, and lock everyone in. And the size and scope of the event is up to you – whether it be a smaller group for an intimate dinner party, or a knees-up on a larger scale.

Some simple tips are as follows:
• Pre-prepare food, and ask friends to bring a plate (and a bottle!)
• Ensure your friends know that they need to donate on the night, so they have their money with them
• A good collection of chick anthems always go down a treat, and Singstar can be a fun ice-breaker
• Make sure you give your bloke a pass out, so that he can plan to be out of the house on the night
• Click here to create and send fabulous online Girls’ Night In invitations

Biography- MyInvites founder tells her story
Biography- MyInvites founder tells her story

This month, the Australian Businesswomen's Network discovered Belinda Cordina, the brain and passion behind www.myinvites.com.au

In this featured profile, Belinda shares the story of Myinvites, noting that the idea for the website was hatched out of frustration. As the social organiser amongst her peers, she wanted to make get-togethers more easy and fun. And to remove the hassle that often comes with being the organiser!

The seed was planted, and Belinda set about developing a simple and easy way to plan events and send out great-looking invitations online.

The result was www.myinvites.com.au - a social networking site for people who already have friends, and want to see more of them. MyInvites is the first of its kind in Australia, and is fast becoming adopted as a favourite social site, with thousands of Aussies creating memorable events each month.

Fun Baby Shower Games Tuesday, 2 September 2008
Fun Baby Shower Games
Host a Tea Party at home
If you have a friend who’s expecting, chances are a Baby Shower won’t be far off. To ensure a few laughs on this special occasion, we have some great game ideas to get the ball rolling...

1. Match the baby name to the celebrity.
2. Using a string, each guest estimates the diameter of the pregnant woman’s stomach. The closest to the size wins.
3. Guess the baby food - blindfolded.
4. Taking a name from each parent, guests create a new name for the baby.
5. Change the nappy on a doll race - includes changing the clothes whilst holding a mobile phone to your ear.
6. A bottle drinking game – one partner tries to drink the bottle while the feeder is blindfolded.

Check out our Baby Shower Invites here.
